I wanted to take the time to share a few things about the police officer exam. There’s a lot of people that have dreams and aspirations of becoming a police officer but many folks never  grasp what is expected of them as they go through the hiring process. You must understand becoming a police officer isn’t like a standard job where you submit your resume, get an interview, and get hired. It’s not that simple.

There are several steps you must take before you get offered the job. You’ll have to take an exam on several different subject matters and then you’ll have to take the police oral board panel .

Police officers are given a lot of discretion, so all the steps are required to make sure that you are a quality candidate.  Unfortunately, over 70% of all applicants with not pass the police test.

The exam is going to ask some odd questions. The questions are very logical; some can seem like riddles. This makes it difficult to study for. That’s why when you’re learning about the simple aspects of rules and regulations, always apply the learning to a situation. Ask yourself what you’d do if you were in a specific situation and this will help you understand the questions you’ll get.

Some other advice for the police officer exam is to focus on your spelling and grammar. They don’t actually tell you that you’re going to be marked on this, but they do. As a police officer, you’re going to be writing a lot of reports that need to be read by professionals. You have to be up to that standard when it comes to your writing.
