I have a 7 year old DWI on my record. Is that a conviction that would make me ineligible to be a police officer? I’ve heard it isn’t, but, would like to know for sure because I am interested in becoming one.

If this was your first and only DWI, I wouldn’t think it would be a problem. However I’d suggest that you contact the recruiter to find out for sure.
