Prince George’s County Police Exam & Oral Board Interview
Prince George’s County Police Exam & Oral Board Interview
The Prince George’s County Police Department is one of the finest agencies in the state of Maryland. The department boast over 1,300 sworn police officers while overseeing in excess of 800,00 residents . PG county is the forth largest law enforcement agency in MA. The entry level benefits (salary, health insurance, pension plan) for patrol officers are very good when you compare it to other PD in the state.
The selection process:
The hiring process may take up to 5 months at most, but if you are subsequently offered the position you won’t remember it took that long. Here are some things you need to know about the process. Just like many other departments, potential recruits will have to pass the written examination and the agility test before moving ahead in the hiring process. The fitness test is not as difficult as you might think after you follow a police specific workout plan prior to taking the test.
The Police Entrance Test:
The only thing that may be a challenge is the police entrance exam and the oral board interview. The police exam usually consists of basic mathematics, reading comprehension, memory recall, and situational scenarios. Just like the fitness test, if you get a police exam study guide you should do fine. The written examination is not anything too difficult and I thought golf would be easy(LOL).
The Police Oral Board Interview:
As you progress in the hiring process you’ll have to face the interview panel, which is no small task . The raters on the board will ask you just about anything concerning your character, integrity, and situational events that may surface on the job. I would definitely study up on the police interview as this will be the last time to sell yourself to the hiring panel. The rater’s score card will be a key factor deciding whether you get hired or not. If you bfail the oral exam, you might have to repeat the process all over again the following year.
I’d suggest getting a police interview review guide if you are serious about doing well on the panel interview. Other components of the hiring process are the psych test, medical examination, initial interview, and polygraph test. I hope this article has shed some light on the Prince Georges County Police Department selection process.
